The company, which has been operating since 2000, created Palm Jumeirah -- the artificial island that became one of the most recognised residential addresses in the UAE -- as well as the broader Dubai Islands archipelago and Palm Jebel Ali. These are not standard developments: Nakheel effectively invented the geography on which they sit.
